Students’ Union

All the students of the Kaliyaganj College are members of the students’. The General Secretary and Office bearers of student’s union are elected from among elected class representatives. By virtue of post, the General Secretary of the students union is a member of the College Governing Body. The duty of the Union is to raise the demands of the students, to create and maintain a healthy academic atmosphere for learning and to maintain a good relationship among the teachers, non-teaching staff and students. The Union arranges annual cultural programme, annual sports, debates, seminars and various cultural events, and also publishes the college magazine. Student union also plays a pivotal role in looking after the academic interest of the students. The objective of the union is to set a uniform platform for the students of different castes, communities, socio-economic conditions where they may associate freely with one another in an atmosphere of goodwill and harmony.

The elections of the Students’ Union have been withheld over the last 5 years due to the state-wide embargo on the conduct of such elections by the Government of West Bengal. However, the representation of students in Academic Committee, Sports Committee and Cultural Committee has also been ensured by the college authority for all-round success of the said events.
