The NSS Unit of Kaliyaganj College has been functioning since 2000. The Motto of NSS “Not Me But You” reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for selfless service to the society. The NSS of the college motivates the students to think and work for the people. It is involved in a number of extension activities like organising blood-donation camp and medical camp, visiting destitute home and distributing clothes and food packets, distributing stationeries and books to slum children, organizing campus cleaning programmes, observance of various important days, etc. An NSS volunteer needs to devote a total of 240 hours social service in two years duration.
(i) To develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility.
(ii) To develop a sense of involvement in the task of National development organized by the students themselves.
(iii) To understand the community in which they work.
(iv) To recognize the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem solving process.
(v) To utilise their knowledge and strength in finding practical solution to individual and community problems.
(vi) To acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitude.
(vii) To practice national integration and social harmony.
(viii) To develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters.
Kaliyaganj College welcomes first semester students to register their names as a NSS volunteer. There are two units, each of 100 students. To register their names, students are advised to contact with NSS programme officer.
